At Rocket Ice Arena, our goal is to provide a fun and safe environment for skaters of all ages and abilities to learn and grow. From Pre Tot to Figure Skating classes, lessons are presented in concise levels with each one focusing on several skills that will be built upon in following levels. After demonstrating mastery of the skills in one level, a student may proceed to the next. Our curriculum works in conjunction with the United States Figure Skating Basic Skills Program and the International Skating Instiute WeSkate program, both of which are taught in quality rinks worldwide.

General Class Information
Classes meet once a week. Skaters should arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the start time of their class. Classes will meet in the lobby before going onto the ice. Skate rental is available or you can purchase a 10-use Rental Pass. Long sleeves and pants, gloves or mittens are recommended. Helmets can be worn if desired. Double blade skates are not permitted. In the last few weeks of each session skaters will receive a Progress Report which will help them select the appropriate level to sign up for next.

Rocket Learn to Skate Program
For kids and adults with little or no formal skating experience, Learn to Skate Classes are great fun, great exercise and a great way to introduce skating into your life! Skaters learn basic coordination and maneuverability. Instructors use songs, toys and games for Tots and games and fun for Youth. Teen/Adult classes tailor lessons to the ability of participants.

Rocket Tot 1, 2, and 3: For 3-5 year olds who have little or no experience on the ice. This class teaches the fundamentals of skating such as balance and coordination. The children will have a cookie break and play with toys on the ice.

Rocket Basic 1 – For ages 6 and up with little or no formal skating experience; Focus on pushing, gliding and maneuvering.

Rocket Basic 2 – For skaters who have mastered the skills in Rocket Tot 3 or Basic 1; Focus on swizzles and 1-foot pushing.

Rocket Basic 3 – For skaters who have mastered the skills in Rocket Basic 2; Focus on stroking and beginning backward skating.

Rocket Basic 4 – For skaters who have mastered the skills in Rocket Basic 3; Focus on forward crossovers and beginning turns.

Rocket Basic 5 – For skaters who have mastered the skills in Rocket Basic 4; Focus on backward crossovers and skating.

Rocket Basic 6 – For skaters who have mastered the skills in Rocket Basic 5; Focus on turns and gliding moves.

Rocket Basic 7 – For skaters who have mastered the skills in Rocket Basic 6; Focus on Mohawks and linking footwork together.

Rocket Basic 8 – For skaters who have mastered the skills in Rocket Basic 7; Focus on advanced transitions and the basics of jumping.

Free Skate-1: For skaters who have mastered skills in Basic 8. Focus on edges, basic spinning, and beginning jumps.

Free Skate-2: For skaters who have mastered skills in FS 1. Focus is on spirals and backward edges.

Free Skate-3: For skaters who have mastered skills in FS 2. Focus is on half jumps, single rotation jumps, and advanced footwork and edges.

Free Skate-4: For skaters who have mastered skills in FS 3. Focus is on basic spiral and dance step sequences.

Free Skate-5: For skaters who have mastered skills in FS 4. Focus is on positional spins and advanced spiral and step sequences.

Free Skate-6: For skaters who have mastered skills in FS 5. Focus is on remaining single jumps and combination spins.

Junior Club- Ice Skating two times per week for accelerated students who wish to advance more quickly and aquire new skills at a faster pace. For level Basic 5 up through Preliminary.

Rocket Teen / Adult – For skaters 12 years and up who wish to receive skating instruction. Classes will be divided by ability and age to tailor the learning experience to individual abilities and needs.
