Family-owned and proudly serving Bolingbrook, Naperville, and the southwest suburbs of Chicago for over 26 years.
Rocket Ice Arena is where families, kids, and adults enjoy the sports we love—ice skating and hockey! Our facility includes two full-size ice surfaces, a ballet room, a synthetic ice training area, and welcoming spaces for players, skaters, and families.
Whether you’re learning to skate, training at a high level for figure skating or hockey, celebrating your birthday, or just looking for a great way to stay active- Rocket Ice is your home for friendship, fitness, and fun.
ICE SKATING LESSONS
Ice Skating Lessons
- Ages 4–5: Start in Snowplow Sam 1 — 30-minute classes designed for first-time skaters to learn balance, marching, and stopping.
- Ages 6–14: Start in Basic 1 — 40-minute classes introducing forward and backward skating, glides, and simple turns.
- Students then progress through the nationally recognized Learn to Skate USA levels.
- Evaluation: During the second-to-last class, evaluations take place and our instructors provide placement for the next session.
- Great Class Times: Classes meet once a week. Choose the day and time that works best for your family. The class you choose is your weekly class time.
- Multiple Class Discount: Add a second or third weekly class in the same level at 50% off.
- VIP Skater Perk: Enrolled students receive a FREE Rockin’ Open Skate pass which provides the enrolled skater with free admission to every public skate during their session.]
HOCKEY LESSONS
Learn to Play Hockey Lessons
Throughout your child’s time in our hockey program, they will learn fundamental ice skating and hockey skills, grow as a skater and player, and reach new levels as an athlete.
- Before joining Level 2 Hockey, players must first know how to skate. Complete the Rocket Ice Arena introductory skating class before progressing into Level 2 hockey. Introductory skating class: Snowplow Sam 1 for 4 and 5 year olds or Basic 1 for ages 6 – 14 years old.
- Level 2: Players wear full hockey gear and learn hockey stance, stops, starts, and stick control.
- Level 2 Pond Hockey: Fun small-area games introduce teamwork and gameplay concepts.
- Levels 3–5: Continue building skills—crossovers, passing, shooting, and game awareness—to prepare for Sabre Youth Hockey or house leagues.
- Evaluation: During the second-to-last class, evaluations take place and our instructors provide placement for the next session.
- Great Class Times: Classes meet once a week. Choose the day and time that works best for your family. The class you choose is your weekly class time.

PUBLIC SKATING
Public Ice Skating: Rockin’ Open Skates
Rockin’ Open Skate sessions are 1½-hour public skating times where the music rocks and the mood is friendly! Public ice skating is perfect for family get-togethers, first dates, birthday celebrations, or a fun weekly night out. It’s also a great way to stay active, make memories with friends, or enjoy something new on a day off school.

- Rink temperature: about 55°F—wear long pants, high socks, and a sweatshirt.

STICK AND PUCK
Stick and Puck at Rocket Ice
Rocket Ice offers Stick and Puck sessions for Hockey Players. These are scheduled one hour times for hockey players to get on the ice and enjoy an open-ice hockey setting with full equipment. Stick and Puck at Rocket Ice has a 20 person on ice maximum ensures it's not too crowded and players can enjoy their favorite sport with their friends or teammates.
- For hockey players looking for ice time to enjoy the sport, Stick and Puck is for you! Rocket Ice is committed to offering consistent, daily offerings. Since there is a 20 person maximum, slots often sell out and booking online is recommended. The online booking is convenient and easy.
- Stick and Puck Side A is the half of the rink in which private lessons are not allowed. On Stick and Puck Side A, players work together to share the space and have fun sharpening their skills.
- Stick and Puck Side B is the half of the rink in which private and semi-private lessons are allowed. Players can work with their coach to advance their skills.
- The ice surface is divided into half at the red line with a 10 person maximum on each half of the rink.

Rocket Ice also hosts multiple hockey camps, clinics and tournaments each year, is home to the Sabre Youth Hockey Association, has a synthetic ice surface for training, and offers weekly Adult Rat Hockey. FIGURE SKATING
Figure Skating at Rocket Ice
For higher level skaters, Rocket Ice offers Freestyle Ice time, specialty classes, Starfire Synchronized Skating Teams and holds ice shows and competitions.
